Thanking the Lord for a Successful Trip

We made it back home and are truly grateful for all that was accomplished. Thank you for all your prayers.  We were able to complete 8 new wells and 2 rehabilitation wells.  Plus, we showed evangelistic movies three different nights at the plaza, had hygiene classes at two kindergartens, provided 4 churches with children's ministry materials, and worked to show the love of Jesus in a real way.  Despite some of the frustration we shared with you in earlier posts, God was at work and much was done for His kingdom.

After Gabe's "heart to heart" talk with some of the people, a lot of the murmuring and complaining died down.  Also, we believe that two of the movies we showed, The Jesus Film and The Passion, really had an impact on them.  After each movie, many would come up to us and tell us how it had made them cry to think about how much Jesus suffered on the cross for their sins.  It really made an impact on us as well, even though we've seen these movies hundreds of times.  It just reminds us of how great in mercy our God truly is.  We really are a people, who for the majority of the time, are complainers and whiners focusing more on the negative than the blessings that God has given us, (like the children of Israel in the wilderness).  Despite all that, God in His infinite mercy chose to save us from eternal death; no matter how sinful we can be.  The last day we were in La Gloria, one young man was talking to us about how bad the people in that village really are but he finished by saying "but God is changing us".  Amen!

The physical gift of the water wells is such a reflection and example of God's love for us.  It is free, without charge, all we have to do is accept it.  We try very hard to stress that to everyone who benefits from the wells.  These people were struggling without water.  Just try to imagine what it would be like to go through just one day with nothing more than a few barrels of water.  We use so much water each day just bathing and brushing our teeth, our daily ration of water would be gone by the morning.  Water for them equates to physical life, just as Jesus Christ, the living water, equates to eternal life.  This is our goal, to help the poor and needy where they are physically in need, while at the same time minister to their spirits with the truth of Jesus Christ.  We believe that during our time in La Gloria, that goal was accomplished.  Thank you Lord!

When we started this ministry in 2004, there was a scripture that inspired us...
"But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?  My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth."  I John 3:17-18  This is still our battle cry.  Thanks to all of you that work with us to see this accomplished.  You are truly a blessing!  Below are some pictures of the people from La Gloria.
